Summary

Never make a promise you cannot keep。。。

Margaret Lovell tries her best to love everyone, if only to make up for the fact that she loathes one man far more than she should, but no less than he deserves。 After the young Earl of Blackwell accused her father of cheating and tricked him out of his fortune, she has despised him for causing their disgrace and lack of security。 So when she learns that Lord Blackwell is on his deathbed, she cannot help but feel a lack of sympathy。 With her family's financial situation worsening, she doesn't have time to think of anything else, especially the man who caused it。

Peter Trafford, Earl of Blackwell, has never had reason to evaluate his life before now。 But with certain death looming before him, he is awakened to a sense of his guilt。 When this strange desperation to repair all his wrongdoings comes over him, he does what any sensible man would: He writes a letter to Margaret Lovell, the daughter of the man whose reputation he singlehandedly destroyed。 In the letter, he offers to marry her。

。。。And promises to die shortly after。

As his widow, Margaret would have an abundance of wealth and comfort, and he would be free of a small measure of his guilt。 But promises—fickle as they are—have a way of breaking。

Wonderful Story of Redemption and LoveThis was a fascinating marriage of convenience romance。 I liked that in spite of the very challenging circumstances, there was still a lot of optimism and humor。 Rather than being discouraged or depressed, Peter doesn't give up trying to right his wrongs from the past and trying to be the husband Margaret deserves。 I love their fight over the comfortable armchair! 😆 Wonderful Story of Redemption and LoveThis was a fascinating marriage of convenience romance。 I liked that in spite of the very challenging circumstances, there was still a lot of optimism and humor。 Rather than being discouraged or depressed, Peter doesn't give up trying to right his wrongs from the past and trying to be the husband Margaret deserves。 I love their fight over the comfortable armchair! 😆 。。。more

OMG I feel like I have been waiting a few years to find out more about Lord Blackwell。 The little tidbits here and there in other books just have kept me in suspense about him and now to see him paired with poor Margret! It was a believable hate to adore story。 I didn’t expect to like Peter right from the start but I did。 Seeing why he was how he was, the guilt and desire to change was a great start to the rollercoaster of a story。 Best moments: it’s a tie between the Armchair Wars and their teasing about his possible murder。 Sounds harsh I know but you have to understand she married him on the promise that he would die, really really soon。 Like within a few days to a week。 It becomes a joke and is really cute。Rating: G/PG, very clean and perfect for anyone in the family。 Great gift! 。。。more

I wasn’t sure how this book was going to read。 Lord Blackwell started out as such an awful man。 Margaret had good reasons to hate him。 I was pleasantly surprised how I came to like Peter just like Margaret did。 I loved reading the growth that both character’s experienced。 Overall a great book。
